Jia Fan, PhD, MD, Professor of Surgery, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, FACS, ASCO, and SSO. He is Honorary President of Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Association for Science and Technology, and the Director of Shanghai International Medical Science and Technology Innovation Center. Prof. Fan is dedicated to clinical diagnosis and treatment, basic and clinical research in the field of liver cancer. He extended the Milan criteria to “Shanghai-Fudan criteria" for HCC patients in China. He established molecular subtypes of HCC, ICC, and gallbladder cancer, as well as models for early diagnosis and prediction of tumor metastasis and recurrence. He has published more than 860 papers, including in The NEJM, Lancet, Cell, Nature, Science, Cancer Cell, etc., with an H-index of 108. He served as the chief editor or deputy editor of Liver Cancer and Clinical Surgical Oncology. Invited by The Lancet, he initiated and chaired the Lancet Commission on addressing the global burden of HCC, together with 51 experts from Japan, South Korea, the United States, and Europe.
