Adipocyte Futile Cycling and Metabolism:

Innovations in Weight Management

May 6, 2026

The New York Academy of Sciences (or join virtually)

Join world-leading experts at the forefront of adipose biology, genetics, metabolism, and metabolic memory research for a one-day symposium on May 6, 2026.

The New York Academy of Sciences proudly presents “Adipocytes Futile Cycling and Metabolism: Innovations in Weight Management."

This event brings together top basic, translational, and clinical scientists to explore the latest discoveries in adipose futile cycling, the physiological roles of adipocytes in obesity and cardiometabolic disease, and the mechanisms of current and next-generation weight management therapies.

Adipose tissue health plays a pivotal role in regulating metabolic risk, yet current therapies—such as GLP-1 agonists that primarily target appetite suppression—do not address the underlying dysfunction of adipose tissue or its influence on the “metabolic memory” of obesity.
